In February it is WAY too cold on our mountain lake to get out in boats and celebrate Mardi Gras so we decided to have our own Mardi Gras like event in the summertime....with a boat parade. So on the 1st Saturday in August every year we meet at the Fairfield Bay Marina on beautiful Greers Ferry Lake in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. We have a little gumbo, a 2nd Line Band, do a little dancin', & have a boat parade!!! Come join us. HOW FAT IS YEAUX BOAT?!

Boati Gras–Fairfield Bay AR
While visiting yesterday the marina in Fairfield we found out that there is a Boati Gras event going on the next day, boats would be decorated and sailed around the marina with music ,prices would be given and it will be fun. So surely we headed down to the marina ,not to miss this special(to us) event, the weather was great ,the sky was blue and the waters were quite, it all looked perfect for the Boati Gras.
First came in the “King” of last year followed by an band and crowed welcomed and greeted him as were taught by the ceremonial manager.
After a short speech the boat owners went to their boats while other visitors grabbed a chair to watch the Boat Parade called Boati Grass here the second year in a row.
It was very nice to see every one having fun , no special reason is needed, just simple fun for the sake of fun,we loved it and it showed,
We sang, danced , eat “junk” food and got adjusted to the overall atmosphere.

The 2nd Annual Boati Gras - 2015 - A HUGE SUCCESS!
Our 2nd year gave us beautiful weather with no rain delays! It was gorgeous. It was fun! It was crowded, and everyone had a ball!!!
The 2013 King of Jesters, Jim Beach, acted as our Towne Cryer and took the microphone to tell us all about upcoming events and introduced the 2014 King of Jesters, Bob Ayers.
( Ha ha ha Hee hee hee!!!! - what any schooled Boati Graser will tell you is the proper response when one mentions the King of Jesters.)
The crowd was wonderful and joined in all the silliness. There were lots of photo ops and dancing and food and fun....even before the parade started...
The boats began arriving and lining up around the docks - the crowd was delighted and amazed!!!!

The Van Buren County Band provided its brass section as our 2nd Line Band and escorted the new King of Jesters (Ha ha ha Hee hee hee!) out to his awaiting subjects. Meet Bob Ayers, the 2014 King of Jesters! (Ha ha ha Hee hee hee!)
